Haywood Early College is excited to begin the 2026–2027 school year in the Poplar building at Haywood Community College! Since opening in 2006, HEC has called the Dogwood building home. This fall, the HEC community proudly opened the doors to the newly renovated Poplar building, just down the road from its former location. Once one of the oldest buildings on campus and home to the nursing program, Poplar has been thoughtfully modernized and redesigned to meet the needs of today’s learners.
The new space offers a state-of-the-art maker lab, more room for students to connect, featuring several student “touchdown” work areas and a dedicated Think Tank designed to encourage collaboration, creativity, and innovative thinking. As we begin this exciting new chapter, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Haywood Community College, Haywood County Schools, and everyone who dedicated their time, talents, and hard work to making this vision a reality. We are incredibly thankful for the support of our community and look forward to all the wonderful opportunities that await our students in their new home!
