Haywood Early College students kicked off the fall with an exciting college tour to Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia, and Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. At Georgia Tech, students enjoyed a campus tour led by an engineering student on game day as the Yellow Jackets prepared to take on Colorado. The campus was buzzing with school spirit as students experienced the energy of college athletics, complete with cheerleaders, the dancing Yellow Jacket mascot, and the iconic Ramblin’ Wreck—a gold-and-white 1930 Ford Model A that serves as Georgia Tech’s official mechanical mascot. After exploring campus, students enjoyed lunch and shopping at Ponce City Market before continuing their journey to Alabama.

At Auburn University, students explored the beautiful campus, visited the historic Toomer’s Corner, and learned about the rich traditions and history of the Auburn Tigers. They also enjoyed lunch at Hey Day Market, experiencing another unique part of campus life. These visits gave students an opportunity to explore college environments, learn about university traditions, and envision the possibilities that await them after graduation. At Haywood Early College, experiences like these help students connect their academic journeys to future educational opportunities while discovering the many paths available to them!
