Lily Seymour bid farewell to the NC State Board of Education as a student advisor in May. Dr. Jeremy Gibbs, Deputy State Superintendent of Public Instruction for the State of North Carolina, said, “Lily’s service in the leadership role for the past two years has been amazing to see. Each month, Lily (and her mom) would haul themselves from Waynesville to Raleigh for a two-day long meeting taking her away from school, home, and all the things to represent students from across the state but, even better, from Western North Carolina! For the past two years Haywood County and Haywood Early College had a very influential voice at the table with Lily Seymour. She didn’t hesitate to ask questions or to add her point of view and she did it with grace. There is no doubt that she has represented you all well and that she has made a significant, positive impact for the Public Schools of North Carolina well into the future.”
